This two-day social media & open source investigations course is designed to teach law enforcement personnel how to legally utilize and exploit open source and social media intelligence in their respective roles. Students will start out by leaning the most current case law that allowed them to use these techniques in their investigations, then the students will be shown how to properly set up undercover accounts on social media platforms. Students will be taught how to conduct cover online investigations while using advanced searching techniques. The course will then cover the most popular social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter and Tiktok. Students will be taught how to find their target on each of the platforms, how to connect their target to an account and how to to submit/analyze the legal process from these platforms. During the course students will be shown relevant and current case studies to reinforce some of the unconventional investigative techniques taught in the course. Most importantly students will be shown how to properly document, save and preserve the evidence they find on social media.

Recent Evaluations:
“Thoroughly enjoyed the class. One of the most relevant training classes I’ve had in 21 years. Found a missing juvenile this morning using some of the resources you provided.” Corona, California Student 2022
“Honestly, this is one of the best course I have taken. It is extremely practical, and you cut out a lot of the bull crap that LE courses tend to come with. No bullshit just good knowledge. I can't think of anything else that you didn't cover. This is so much good new content that I spent a lot of time on typing out notes, so I can go over the notes again.” Corona, California Student 2022
“A lot of valuable information was presented in a very short period of time. I truly found the class beneficial and would highly recommend it to all police personnel as the trend has become that more crime is being committed with clues and evidence located on the internet and woven into social media.” Shelton, CT Student 2022
